What do you think of when you think of a neon sign?
For many people, it’s easy to still think of it simply as something that lights up downtown areas, with the flashing motel signs as well as the sex shops and the red light industry. But this use of neon signage has died off a little, and in its place we are finding the use of our Neon Creations’ to be much more creative, with much more thought behind each sign and the use of them being much more than just simply advertising. One way neon has taken off is through clothing. I purchased this neon hoodie from Topshop and teamed this up with a metallic silver skirt. This look is a sporty and edgy.
The bright colours of neon were spotted at fashion week in London and New York recently, with it becoming a much more a popular trend than anticipated.
Once upon a time neon signs were largely associated with cities’ rundown areas, but these days’ architects, musicians, artists, businesses and the fashion world are utilising the potential of neon signs to create distinctive art pieces that are used in a variety of ways. Neon has found itself very much back in the spotlight, it’s popular with a number of big names, including the Beckhams’ and Elton John, as well as being used in more ways than ever before.
Let’s face it – London is a city where the weather is always up and down. Although we have experienced some warm days it has gone back to becoming mild again. One item of clothing that I know won’t disappoint is the “hoodie”.
Hoodies may have an infamous reputation to some because of its so-called ‘rebellious connotations’. I feel a little bit like a thug but, so many men and women all over the world consider hoodies an important part of their wardrobes. In fact, more than just fashion, hoodies have become a symbol of personal style and self-expression.
As all of you know, I am very much a girly girl. I am very feminine and that is why I have teamed this hoodie with a mini skirt rather than sports pants. My trainers are sporty and are from Nike. Last year, I wrote an article about why metallic prints are so popular which you can find here.
I am a huge fan of the brand Nike. Just do it. I love what this brand is all about and what it represents. However, for a look like this any of your favourite trainers would work well. My aim is to try and make a feminine and sporty look with a quirky edge. Perfect for those random London days when you feel a bit daring.
Below you can see my whole outfit. My hair is really long at the moment that I have just left this out and of course I had to grab my Starbucks Soya Americano.
Britain really is a nation of trainer lovers. The comfortable shoe, once reserved for fitness and sports, has become a staple fashion item in the nation’s wardrobes. Instead of just wearing trainers in the gym I incorporate this in my personal fashion.
The trainer has been named UK’s most popular style of shoe, ahead of ankle boots, flat sandals and brogues. This outfit is super comfortable – my hoodie and trainers and also looks quirky so you are onto a winner here.
Kisses to prove how much I love this adorable look xxx
