As a UK blogger I want to share with you a super fun thing to do in London – Salsa. I went this weekend with a group of friends and it was so so so much fun. I have actually shared a few videos on my instagram which you can see here.
So – the way this works is that lessons first of all take place and then the venue turns into a dance atmosphere. Honestly, I loved it. I am a novice when it comes to salsa dancing but this is incredibly good for the soul and super fun.
One of my best friends Anita is a professional dancer and she was teaching me the moves. Salsa is such a good release and also incredibly great to remove any negative energy. I had the best time ever without any alcohol – I am not much of a drinker but I am really into my fitness that I don’t want to ruin it on empty calories and my personal trainer always tells me all my hard work will be thrown away if I am not good on weekends too. It is totally fine, this is the life I have chosen to live and feel so much better for it. The best thing is I don’t have a horrible hangover and I can make the most of my weekend. Anyway, I am the type of girl who can have no alcohol and be the last one on the dance floor.
What is Salsa?
Salsa is a popular form of social dance originating in Cuba and before from United States of America U.S.A regions of New York and Puerto Rico and Cuban folk dances.
Salsa is a sexy, energetic and fun partner dance. Unlike some partner dances, it is a very sociable dance – you don’t need to have a regular partner. In fact, it is common for salseros to dance with people they have never met before (which is actually what I did). That’s part of the fun of dancing Salsa. With it’s sociable nature, Salsa has become highly popular, all around the world. London has many Salsa venues but I went to the one in Temple, London and across the river there are gorgeous scenic views of London.
I love making new friends in London and we definitely made new friends doing salsa. I thought I would be terrible at dancing but I was surprised that I picked up the moves so quickly. My advice is go go go go.
So, after the best night dancing I didn’t want it to end there. We ended up taking an uber to Bluebird in Chelsea (a place I adore). I actually celebrated New Years here. We had a boogie and then we made our way to Raffles in Chelsea which is open all night.
The salsa really got me into the mood for even more dancing. I was on a high but without any alcohol. The music was amazing at Bluebird and it was great in Raffles too.
This was such a fun night out with my girls. I think dancing and letting your hair down once in a while is perfect for the soul. xxx
