I am a huge lover of Disney so when the new Aladdin movie came out I just knew I had to see this. I really was transported to a whole new world. This movie was directed by one of my favourites Guy Ritchie and featured one of the best actors in the world Will Smith who plays the genie. He is a genius and unbelievably talented. I have always loved him, his charisma and this made me fall even more in love with him. What a hero he is.

Everyman Cinema, Kings Cross London

Mena Massoud who plays Aladdin, has roots in Egypt. Naomi Scott, who plays Princess Jasmine, is of Indian descent. Nasim Pedrad, as her handmaiden, Dalia, was born in Iran. Marwan Kenzarim plays the villainous Jafar, is partly Tunisian.

The Plot

I love the story of Aladdin and I felt like I was 10 years old again watching the movie in the cinema. The next fancy dress I have I will be Jasmin 🙂

Gold-hearted “street rat” Aladdin (Mena Massoud) dreams of a better life. Cosseted princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) dreams of freedom. And frustrated vizier Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) lusts for power — which he hopes to gain via a wish-granting genie (Will Smith) who resides in a magic lamp in the nearby Cave of Wonders. The story is so magical. Who doesn’t love Disney hey?

A whole new world …

I love the lyrics of this song:

I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we’re only dreaming
A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I’m way up here
It’s crystal clear
That now I’m in a whole new world with you
Now I’m in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world (Don’t you dare close your eyes)
A hundred thousand things to see (Hold your breath, it gets better)
I’m like a shooting star
I’ve come so far
I can’t

Why Maya loved Aladdin

For me this movie had everything I love in a movie. Unbelievable acting, gorgeous music, beautiful cinematography. I wanted to cry in the movie because it was that good. It was a form of escapism – like if only there was a magic carpet in real life hey! Also a genie in real life would be pretty amazing too.

I saw this movie at Everyman cinema in Kings Cross and as usual Everyman did not disappoint. I love luxury cinema experience. Get yourself down to watch Aladdin and be exported to a whole new world.
