The outfit that I will be discussing in this blog post is like MARMITE. You either love it or hate it! This is my first fashion post for 2019 so I really do hope you enjoy reading this. All of these photos where taken at one of my favourite food markets in London – Borough Market!
This dreamy dalmatian jacket is perfect for adding a chic touch to your look. Featuring a fur style I am wearing this with pair of denim jeans and a pair of retro red sock boots.
Animal prints have now become the new neutrals.
Just when you thought Dalmatian had used up its nine lives, the popular print gets another shot at the big time. But this go-round, the catty pattern isn’t alone. Over the past two seasons, designers have fallen back in love with everything from tigers to zebras and even snakes (which I will post about next week). The beauty of animal prints is that, despite their bold background, they actually function as neutrals you can build almost any outfit around.
Animal prints are perfect whatever the occasion. For seriously statement out-out vibes choose a dalmatian print especially like my jacket I am wearing.
I have paired this animal print with a splash of red and a pair of denim jeans. My hair is in lose waves and I have a red flower to complement my whole look. My best friend Anna actually got me my boots for Christmas.
The power of RED
As the fashion designer Valentino once suggested, “Red has guts …. deep, strong, dramatic. A geranium red. A Goya red … to be used like gold for furnishing a house … for clothes, it is strong, like black or white.”
I couldn’t agree with Valentino more! Red is a statement colour. With this outfit you have to be brave to wear it as the animal print is quite a statement and the red makes this even more of a statement outfit but I LOVE IT!!!
The Colour Psychology of Red
- Red is a bright, warm colour that evokes strong emotions
- Red is associated with love, warmth, and comfort
- Red is also considered an intense, or even angry, colour that creates feelings of excitement or intensity
- Consider how red is used in language: redneck, red-hot, red-handed, paint the town red, seeing red
My sock boots are the same colour as my adorable bag and earrings. I have added a splash of red to make this even more outrageous.
At the beginning of this post I did mention that you would either love this look or hate it. So now, it is time for you to make your mind up! What do you think? I can’t wait to show you next weeks outfit (which is also another animal print). Big love, Maya xxx
